When you open the Calendar Options window you will see over thirty button choices that will allow you to decide how My Calendar operates or displays and prints the calendars. They are grouped into; General Options, Year Options, Month Options, Printing Options, and Object Locations.
Radio buttons allow only one choice in the group. Check boxes allow multiple choices.
General Options:
Show 3D Calendar: This creates a 3D calendar display. In the lower right corner of the window are 14 color buttons that allow you to select the style of the 3D display, 7 lighter shades and 7 darker shades. These buttons only effect the 3D displays.
Framed Calendar - This creates a calendar with each rectangle simply framed.
Plain Calendar - This creates a calendar without any boxes for the displays.
Start up note - My Calendar will check to see if a note exists for the current day and displays the note if it finds one.
Speak notes - For the speak note option to work you must have Speech Manager (an Apple Extension) installed in your Extensions folder and running.
Faster Launch - This option causes My Calendar to open without the logo window.
Time Display - This toggles the display of the current system time in the upper right corner of the calendar window.
Display Alarms - This option turns on the daily alarm feature that allows you to enter an alarm on any day. Read the Alarms topic below for more information.
Year Options:
Show weekday name on year - This option displays the name of the weekday, i.e. "Wednesday" on the top of the weekdays. Turning this off allows more room for the calendars which can make viewing easier on smaller monitors.
Highlight note on year - This options allows you to highlight the days that have notes with a different font, size, style and color of font. Use the Font Preferences window to select your choices.
Month Options:
Show note on month - This option allows you to show your notes on the month view. Allows for privacy by hiding the notes.
Show banner on month - This option allows you to display banners on the month views.
Show Icon on month - This option allows you to display any selected icons on the month views.
Printing Options:
Show Prev/Next Calendar - This option allows you to print a small calendar for the previous and next months on the bottom right corner of the month being printed. When the calendars are small these calendar are unusable.
Round corner rectangles - This option allows you to use rounded corner rectangles when printing the calendars instead of the normal rectangles. To the right of this option is an edit field and up/down arrow controls. You can enter the amount of rounding (measured in pixels) from 0 to 999 directly into the field or you can use the arrow button to enter amounts. You can create calendars with completely round days but notes will overlap the boundaries and icons and dates located in the corners will fall outside the round rectangle.
Hairlines - This option allows you to print a smaller (.25 point) line for the calendar grids if you are using a postscript printer.
Print Icons - This option allows you to print any icons you have selected for your calendars.
Print Normal Calendar/Print Month Display - This radio button allows you to toggle between printing a calendar using the printing options or with one click of the mouse change to printing the display options.
Don't frame non-days - This option allows you to eliminate the calendar grid frame and fill pattern on the non days of a monthly calendar when printing.
Set Calendar Window Color. This allows you to select a custom color for the calendar window.
Size Calendar. Opens the calendar sizing window. From there you can directly input the size of calendar you wish to print or use the graphic display to drag-size a calendar.
Object Locations:
Icon - Use this group of five buttons to select where (within the calendar day grid) the icons will be displayed.
Date - Use this group of five buttons to select the location of the Date in same manner as above.
Banner - Use this group of three buttons to locate where the banner will be displayed in relationship to the calendar day grid.
Clicking on Revert will revert your changes to the last internally saved preferences. Clicking on Default... will save your current choices as the current internal preferences. Clicking on the Save As.. button will allow you to save the current selections as an external preferences file. Clicking on the Done button will record your changes, make the changes temporary and return you to the calendar window if it is open. Clicking on the Apply button will apply your current choices to the display window and preview window if they are open.
Clicking on the Fonts button will close the Calendar Options window and open the Font Preferences window.
